Tom is brilliant. Full stop. I acquired his novel C on the advice of Marty Asher, one of the best publishers the US has ever seen. I published three of Tom’s novels in Canada. I didn’t provide an editorial note, because frankly, the man doesn’t need an editor. Fun Fact. Tom and I attended Benjamin Britten’s Death in Venice at the Canadian Opera Company, and are now collaborating on a musical version entitled LIBIDO ON THE LIDO. I think Tom feels the project has long been forgotten. I am here to assure you, it has not. Another fun fact, Tom wore a tie that I gave him to the Booker Prize ceremony the year he was nominated for C. My recommendation, read REMAINDER. To my mind it is as close to a perfect novel as you are going to get. Then read the rest of his oeuvre in order. And then start again from the beginning.
